Neighborhood Meeting
Tuesday, January 27 th, 7:00 PM
Canoas School Cafeteria
Hello neighbors!
Our January neighborhood meeting is coming up on Tuesday, January 27 th. We will elect our officers for 2009. Please try to attend this meeting to get updates on the happenings in our neighborhood and give us your input.
We want to encourage you to participate in our Neighborhood Association in 2009. There are volunteer opportunities as well as social events.
- The Beautification Committee does regular litter pick-up when the weather permits and beautification projects. Last year we planted several hundred daffodil bulbs in the Wren Park.
- The Social Committee sponsors our Neighborhood Garage Sale, Annual Picnic, block parties, the Yard Christmas/Holiday tree program and various social events.
- The Association purchased a projector and we will have movie nights for the neighborhood when it gets warm enough. Let us know if you want to set up one for your block.
- We are promoting the Neighborhood Watch program. If you want to sponsor a Watch on your street, we will help you make it happen.
- If you have an idea for a community event or program, we would love to hear from you!
THANKS!!
CGNA thanks the members of the Board, the committee members and all of the volunteers who helped make 2008 a very successful year for our Association.
Canoas Garden History
Ralph Pearce is researching the history of our neighborhood. He has turned up some very interesting stuff so far. (Did you know that there is an abandoned quicksilver mine with 4000 ft. of tunnels on the other side of the hill from our neighborhood?) If you have any stories, pictures or documents that would be of historical interest, please contact us.
Construction Projects Around Our Neighborhood
- Meadowbrook Townhome Project: JSM Enterprises has not sold the property. The project is on indefinite hold until the housing market recovers.
- Venetian Terrace Apartment Project (Scottish Rite property): They have hired a new contractor and the project is starting up again. It is scheduled to be completed in about a year.
- Upper Guadalupe River Habitat Restoration Project: More tree-cutting and clearing is going on in the river channel south of our neighborhood. Phase one of the main project is supposed to start this June and last until December.
CGNA Yearly Dues: $10
Please use the attached envelope for your annual dues contribution of $10.
Thank you, and have a great 2009!
